World Outreach International - "Pakistan Flood Relief Fund"
Pakistan's worst floods in 80 years have killed more than 1,600 people and affected up to 20 million - more than a tenth of the population.
The United Nations estimates at least 8 million people need urgent assistance.
The authorities and most aid agencies are struggling to help survivors, many of whom have lost everything and say they received no warnings that raging waters were heading their way.
Pakistan Floods
Our partners in Pakistan have just filed this report.
"Our flood relief work continues in Muzzafar Ghar and Basti Gamo Wala with food parcels and clean water to 1100 families with the help of elders from the villages.
People are thankful and are more open to share their problems and difficulties with us as we have remained with them during their time of trouble. Many of the people have been emotionally affected as every day they see their fields and dead crops.
The challenge ahead of them is to re-establish themselves as they have lost everything in the flood waters.
Healing -A few elderly people were sick and our team people asked if they could pray for them. As a result two ladies and a man was healed.
During the next week as our team went there to deliver food a number of people asked them for prayer and one of our team members and shared a simple message of salvation.
In another place an elderly lady had a fever and our team prayed for her and she was instantly healed. All the people of her family were very happy and they were open to hear about Jesus.
Our team members are working hard to build up good relationships with people and show them love and kindness to impact their lives for God’s kingdom.
Like Angels - An elder from the same village has been so impressed with our relief efforts as his village was totally neglected. He shared that our team are like angels to help them in their time of need. He said his entire village is thankful to overseas friends who are providing food for them.
Winter - Winter is fast approaching in Pakistan and especially in the open fields the nights get very cold and the families have little children as well. They are in need of blankets this coming winter as in the middle of November the weather will get very cold and December and January are very cold months in Pakistan.
Blankets - We would like to deliver blankets to the adopted families to meet this need. We would like to provide 3 doonahs to every family in genuine need at a cost of $60 per family.
Please could you consider to help us further in this need.
Crops - We will continue to deliver food at this stage because families are dependent on this. Even though the flood water has waters have gone we are still delivering food as the soil is not ready to grow crops. The people in these villages have not any other source of income apart from the agriculture.
We are really thankful to you and World Outreach for all you concern, financial support and generosity towards this disaster in Pakistan."
We invite you to partner with us with a three month or one-off commitment to address these needs.
