Who We Are

World Outreach International is a faith based ministry established in 1932 with diverse ministries, teams and indigenous and International partnerships in 60 nations on five continents. Singapore based, International Director, John Elliott heads up an executive team of senior missionaries, pastors and business leaders.

What We Do

World Outreach International's primary purpose is to impact least reached people groups with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through

 Raising and Equipping Church Leaders - Pastors and leaders seminars, ministry training centres, Life in Christ Leadership magazine
Evangelism and Planting Churches - Evangelism and discipleship amongst the unreached

All Nations Mobilisation -Training cross cultural workers from new sending nations who are geographically, linguistically and culturally nearer to the unreached than the Western church.

Children's Ministry - Creative ministries to share the Good News, disciple, and demonstrate practical concern for children in the developing world, amongst least reached people groups - recognising that up to 50% of the population in most developing nations are under the age of 15.
Humanitarian Aid -  Combine social concern and witness in ministries based on the pattern established by Jesus Christ. We believe that evangelism involves both the declaration of truth and the demonstration of love because evangelism and social action are distinct yet closely linked.

How we began

World Outreach International began in 1932 to address the needs of  refugees in Eastern Europe - during the Great Depression in 1932. The political situation in Eastern Europe (including Russia) was difficult, to say the least. Because of this and other factors there were thousands upon thousands of displaced people in Eastern Europe. And so the Russian and Eastern European Mission; as World Outreach was first known; was born. Because of the prevailing political situations, it became impossible to continue working with the Russian people, so the name was changed to the Eastern European Mission.

At the conclusion of World War II, General Douglas MacArthur issued a call to the western church to help with the rebuilding of Asia. We responded to that call. After some time the name was changed to the Slavic and Oriental mission to better reflect the scope of the ministry.

Eventually opportunities opened for us in Africa, so the name was changed to World Outreach.

Today World Outreach International is directed by John Elliott, who has lived and worked in Asia for the past 30 years and who is a much sort after public speaker at conferences, churches and business functions. John is based in Singapore.
